Imessouane (Imesouane) Willaya d'Agadir

Nestled at the foot of the High Atlas, Imsouane Bay is a small artisanal fishing port that can be discovered at the turn of a narrow, winding secondary road abruptly skirting the cliff. Geographically, Imsouane (or Imesouane) is located on a wild coast equidistant between Essaouira (almost 90 km) and Agadir (a little more than 80 km). 30 ° 50 ’north latitude - 9 ° 49’ west longitude Fishing is the main activity of the inhabitants of Imsouane. The Imsouane fishermen's cooperative has been formed since 1995 and has 200 members. The fishing activity provides employment for nearly 600 fishermen. This cooperative was created to develop traditional sea fishing and improve the fisherman’s living and working conditions, said its president, Houcine Boussanane. The construction of the port was carried out in 1998 as part of the Japanese government's non-reimbursable financial cooperation as a symbol of friendship and cooperation between Japan and the Kingdom of Morocco. The village has 80 storage stores for fishermen, a fish market, a fuel depot and administrative buildings. Currently, work on the first section of a workshop for the manufacture and repair of boats is underway within the framework of the INDH. The cooperative has also set up a café employing 4 people, a store with 6 permanent work stations and even a hairdressing salon (2 hairdressers). The Japanese are very involved in the site. The volunteer Wada Takanobu stayed for two years in Imsouane with the aim of identifying the varieties of fish found in this region, said the president. Thus, the site would count around sixty species of fish and crustaceans. The artisanal fishermen of this region benefited from the "flouka" project thanks to Italian organizations. This project is a contribution to improving the living and working conditions of artisanal fishermen, funded by the ONP, the Centro Mondialità del Sviluppo Reciproco (CMSR, Italian NGO). The project also contains a “Gender” component which consists of creating a cooperative of women collecting mussels at site level. The cooperative held its constituent general meeting in October 2004.

Nichée au pied du Haut Atlas, la baie d’Imsouane est un petit port de pêche artisanale que l’on découvre au tournant d’une route secondaire, étroite et sinueuse longeant abruptement la falaise. Géographiquement, Imsouane (ou Imesouane) se situe sur une côte sauvage en équidistance entre Essaouira (près de 90 km) et Agadir (un peu plus de 80 km). 30°50’ latitude nord - 9°49’ longitude west La pêche est la principale activité des habitants d’Imsouane. La coopérative des pêcheurs d’Imsouane s’est constituée depuis 1995 et compte 200 adhérents. L’activité pêche offre de l’emploi à près de 600 pêcheurs. Cette coopérative a été créée afin de développer la pêche maritime traditionnelle et d’améliorer les conditions de vie et de travail du pêcheur, indique son président Houcine Boussanane. La construction du port s’est réalisée en 1998 dans le Cadre de la Coopération Financière non remboursable du gouvernement Japonais comme symbole d'amitié et de coopération entre le Japon et le Royaume du Maroc. Le village compte 80 magasins de stockage pour les pêcheurs, une halle aux poissons, un dépôt de carburant et des bâtiments administratifs. Actuellement, les aménagements de la première tranche d’un atelier pour la fabrication et la réparation des barques sont en cours dans le cadre de l’INDH. La coopérative a également aménagé un café employant 4 personnes, un économat avec 6 postes de travail permanents et même un salon de coiffure (2 coiffeurs). Les japonais sont très engagés dans le site. Le volontaire Wada Takanobu est resté pendant deux ans à Imsouane avec pour objectif l’identification des variétés de poissons se trouvant dans cette région, dit le président. Ainsi, le site compterait une soixantaine d’espèces de poisson et de crustacés. Les artisans pêcheurs de cette région ont bénéficié du projet «flouka» grâce à des organisations italiennes. Ce projet est une contribution à l'amélioration des conditions de vie et de travail des marins pêcheurs artisans, financé par l'ONP, le Centro Mondialità del Sviluppo Reciproco (CMSR, ONG Italienne). Le projet contient aussi une composante « Genre » qui consiste à créer une coopérative de femmes ramasseuses de moules au niveau du site. La coopérative a tenu son assemblée générale constitutive en octobre 2004.
